PROGRAMME OVERVIEW: 

"Digitalising Corporate Governance: A Path to Excellence" acknowledges that Digital Corporate Governance is an inevitable transformation. In this dynamic program, we explore the challenges and opportunities arising from this digital shift. We will also delve into the impact of digitalisation on governance structures, practices, and regulatory compliance. All while emphasising the importance of embracing this transformation to stay competitive and excel in the digital era. Our interactive sessions and expert insights offer a deeper understanding of how technology can elevate your governance practices.

 

The aim is to encourage existing MIA and MAICSA members to pursue a career in company secretarial practice by enhancing digitalisation of corporate governance. This will improve practices and create a healthier work and live experience.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE: 

Enhance Digital Literacy: Provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of digital technologies and their impact on corporate governance.

Increase the Number of Digitally Enabled Governance Practitioner Company Secretaries: To promote the practice of company secretaries in the field due to the current shortage of professional company secretaries in MIA & MAICSA.

Promote Good Governance Practices: Explore how digital tools can facilitate good governance practices, compliance, and ethics within organisations.

Navigate Regulatory Changes: Equip participants with the knowledge to ensure corporate governance complies with evolving digital and regulatory landscapes.

Enhance Competitiveness: Enable professionals to leverage digital solutions to maintain and enhance competitiveness in their respective industries.

DIGITALISING CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

Justin J Anthony

Justin is currently the Chief Executive Officer of MAICSA. He spent the last 10 years at PIKOM – The National Tech Association of Malaysia. He played a key role in executing strategic initiatives towards achieving the needs of the TECH industry in the areas of Global Business Services (GBS), ecommerce, cybersecurity, and other special interest groups. He brings with him over 30 years of work experience spanning across the fields of finance and accounting, management of turnkey projects, project management, business development, and industry development. He is an Associate of the Association of International Accountants (AAIA) (UK).

DIGITALISING THE PROFESSION

Steven Chong

Steven is a Member of the MIA Digital Technology Implementation Committee (DTIC). He is a past Council Member of MIA and was founding Chair of the MIA Digital Economy Taskforce and DTIC. He is the Founder of GA Alliance, an award-winning regional technology startup in the fintech and accounting technology space. He is also the Managing Partner of Morison LC PLT, a member of Morison Global, a leading international association of professional service firms ranked as the 9th largest association in the world. Steven is a Member of MIA, Fellow Member of CPA Australia, ACA of the ICAEW, UK, and two Master’s degree holder from Victoria University, Australia.

It is certain that good governance remains sustainable during a time of technological and managerial disruption. Under the pressure of new economic, social, and ecologic challenges, it is more crucial than ever for a company’s board of directors to transform corporate governance digitally so as to maintain competitiveness and fulfill regulatory duties.

Leong Oi Wah

Leong Oi Wah is a Fellow Member of the MAICSA and has more than 30 years of experience in handling corporate secretarial matters in the profession and the corporate sector. She has been involved in advising on corporate secretarial requirements including corporate restructuring and compliance with various regulatory bodies such as the Registrar of Companies, Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd, Securities Commission and other authorities. She is currently Director, Corporate Development of Epsilon Advisory Services Sdn Bhd.

Samantha Tai Yit Chan

Samantha Tai is a member of the Council and was elected to the Council in July 2022.  Presently, Samantha is the Chief Executive Officer of Boardroom Malaysia and Managing Director of Asia, Corporate Secretarial, Boardroom Group. She has more than 30 years of experience in corporate governance and the corporate secretarial industry providing trusted advice on corporate needs to leaders in Malaysia and around the region.  Samantha holds directorships in Malaysian Alliance of Corporate Directors (MACD) and is also a member of the TAR UMT Thought Leadership Committee.

Enhancing communication and collaboration: Digital tools and platforms enable practitioners to communicate and collaborate more effectively, both within the boardroom and with external stakeholders.

Ang Boon Chow

Ang Boon Chow, also known as BC Ang, is an accomplished entrepreneur and business driver with over 25 years of experience in the technology industry. His specialty focus lies in digital adoption, and he is currently serving as the Chief Digital Officer at Wezmart International Bhd, where he aims to revolutionize the compliance service industry. He was a CEO of EatCakeToday, key member of DT Mobisoft, the strategic partner of DingTalk, Alibaba group, where he introduced the Alibaba mobile office solution to Malaysian businesses. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bath, UK, and a MBA in International Business from Australia.
